Hi there i am wanting to buy from ebay some militaria us manufactured Dvd`s they state US FORMAT or NORTH AMERICAN FORMAT ? will these play on a UK dvd player ? sorry if this is a bone question but i am hopeless at techno stuff , kind regards ,Michael.

Not unless you have a DVD player that is coded to play other formats, I think the UK is region 2, and the US is Region 1 (NTSC), your DVD instruction sheet will tell you if the player will play this format or not.
(Some DVD's are not Region coded and will play on any player, I think they are marked as Region 0 ).

you need a multi region player to play any region dvd's as above UK is 2. Australia is 4 and i believe these will play on UK players. Many documentary dvds tend to be 0. It should be really easy to find out on the box, if not theres probably a way of playing it on a PC?

multi-region DVD players are now exceptionally cheap to buy, if you purchase a DVD reviews magazine there are normally copious listings in the rear showing vendors of such machines.
You can also have your existing player modified to bypass region coding. Have a ring around a few of your local, independant TV/electrical suppliers.

its simple to convert your reg 2 to a multi region one go on to google or yahoo and get the code for your model and make and follow instructions it only takes a minuite i have converted five of them for my friends the cheapest recorders are the best olso currys sale a matsui one for about 20 quidComment
